BELIZE Day 3

MY BIRTHDAY! Day 3 started out amazing because Jbeau told the lodge it was my birthday and they sent a bread pudding cake to the room along with our breakfast. We met up with our tour guide, Marcos, around 8am and he took us about an hour and a half out from the lodge to see the Maya ruins of Caracol. We spent the morning learning about the Mayan culture and exploring the ruins. We ate lunch with Marcos and he made us these giant burrito type wraps with fresh vegetables and ham. I didn't know what to expect at first, but they were actually really tasty. His wife makes the best tortillas, hands down. We left Caracol and got stuck in a huge storm. I was so nervous about all the water that I forgot to take photos of the storm... that's when you know it must have been raining pretty badly. It didn't phase Jbeau but we ended up having to cross bridges over the river that were flooded with water. We did not get swept away and when the storm let up we went to the Rio Frio Cave to take a look.  People who were stuck at the lodge said everyone went to the lobby area and drank for hours because all the power went out. We made it back in time to get drinks, dinner, and visit with the friends we made at the lodge. It was a very unique way to celebrate my birthday and one of the best days of my life.
